The European Day of Languages with My Teacher

For the European Day of Languages, I interviewed my teacher Mia Lukić about English. She decided to help me and I was so excited that I could interview her. Here is what she said.

Me: Why did you become an English teacher?

Teacher Mia: I graduated from Teacher Training College and started working as an English teacher in one private language school where I held lectures for students of all age groups. Teaching is my vocation and I fell in love with the English language as a child so I combined those two things and started doing what I love. I believe doing the job you love is a dream that came true, and the best way to motivate both yourself and the people you work with.

Me: How many times have you visited England?

Teacher Mia: So far, I have visited England only once, but I plan to do it again. London is definitely the number one place to visit if you're an English teacher. Its historical heritage and multicultural diversities are absolutely worth seeing.

Me: What do you like the most about English?

Teacher Mia: English is one of the most descriptive languages. Its rich vocabulary is like an organism which multiplies every year, so no one can really say they know every word in English. What I like the most about it is that it gives you the opportunity to 'play with it'. One of the features of English are its flexibility of function and openness of vocabulary. You can, for example, book a place or place a book. Pronunciation is also a playground where you can combine different words or numbers to create new words. Moreover, this type of communication through texting can often be seen on social networks worldwide. It's gr8!

Me: What is your life goal?

Teacher Mia: As Dostoyevsky once said: "The mystery of human existence lies not in just staying alive, but in finding something to live for." Setting goals and achieving them is one of the most powerful processes in life of every individual. It gives you a sense of purpose and purpose is a fuel for the soul. Never stop learning, growing, changing... that's what I aim for.

Me: How do you spend your free time?

Teacher Mia: My free time can vary from doing some creative work to doing capoeira or taking photos. I do like watching a good movie from time to time, but I'm more of a person who likes action, therefore watching TV hasn't been on my list for past 10 years. Above all, I enjoy spending time in nature, in the forest or by the sea. Needless to say, music is a part of my life just as well.

Me: How do you motivate your students to learn English?

Teacher Mia: One of the most challenging and most important aspects of being a teacher is knowing how to motivate your students. So far, I haven't met anyone who cannot learn English, but I have met those who think they cannot do it. And guess what? They were wrong! English is a tool that gives you numerous opportunities no matter what you want to do or where you want to live or travel. The choice is yours!

English is a beautiful language and I hope this interview inspired you.
